Developing a Skin Care Routine

Nothing beats treating my skin to unwind after a hard day of work as a skin care fanatic. This is the best time of day to work on repairing your skin because it regenerates in the evening.

After years of teenage zits, my skin is now acne-prone. Keeping my skin barrier healthy and treating acne and hyperpigmentation as a result of it is an important part of my regimen. And now that I'm in my mid-20s, I've started using anti-aging cosmetics as preventative measures to keep my skin looking young.

My typical overnight skin care regimen consists of the following steps:

  • cleanse
  • treat
  • hydrate
  • moisturize

While I use the same products every day and follow the same regimen, I occasionally alter things up based on how my skin is feeling that day. In addition, I prefer to make my daily routine lighthearted while yet being aware – find out more about this in the sections that follow.

I have a four-step evening skin care ritual if you're interested.

Start with a thorough cleansing.

To begin, I make certain my skin is well cleaned before beginning any makeup application. Cleaning is critical, but it's one that gets short-changed. The following step in our skin care regimen absorbs and works better if we remove all the extra debris and oil from our face. Double cleansing is something I'd use on a regular basis. The following is a breakdown of the situation:

Cleansing agent based on oil

My favourite way to remove makeup is to use an oil cleanser before applying any base products, such as BB cream, foundation, or concealer. This is the simplest and most gentle method I've found for removing all of my foundation's basic layers from my face.

After massaging the oil cleanser into my dry skin, I rinse it off with warm water. After that, I proceed to the next stage of my cleaning routine.

Cleanser that is based on water

I'll skip to this step if I'm not wearing any makeup that day. Always keep in mind that this product should be mild, not irritate your eyes, and not leave your skin feeling tight or dry after use. It should be easy to rinse off and efficient in cleaning your skin of dirt and filth.

If the cleanser meets the aforementioned conditions, regardless of its form (gel, foam, or milk), you're fine to go.

The second step is to treat. After cleaning, I prefer to immediately apply my serum on my face. The "fun yet attentive" approach to skin care is where I use it here. A serum is a topical treatment that has a high concentration of active chemicals to address a specific skin problem. And you may pick from a wide range of designs.

While I like experimenting with new serums, I also pay attention to what my skin actually needs. As a result of not paying attention to the components, I once tried a product that was well promoted and failed miserably. In the end, it wasn't a good fit for my skin type.

Be aware of how a product affects your skin, and if the outcome is negative, consider saying "thank you, next."

For each of my skin problems, I seek for the following components in a serum:

Step 3: Drink plenty of water

When my skin is dry, especially in the winter, I use a toner to replenish some of the moisture I've lost. This water-like solution, designed with additional healthy components, helps to hydrate our skin.

Antioxidants and humectants are common ingredients in skin care products. Put a liberal quantity in the palm of your palms and gently tap them on your face until all of it is absorbed.

When I skip this phase in my routine, I notice that my skin is oilier the following day. This is because dry skin causes your oil glands to generate more oil, which acts as a natural moisturizer by keeping your skin moisturised. Acne risk increases when this occurs. If your skin is dehydrated, adding extra water may be helpful in breaking the cycle of dryness.

Step 4: Apply moisturising lotion or cream.

Moisturizer keeps your skin moisturised while locking in the goodies you've just applied to it. Not to mention the fact that it leaves your skin feeling supple and smooth after just one use.

I use a lot of moisturiser with a light texture that doesn't leave a greasy film on my face. Honestly, finding a cream that works for my skin type is a real struggle. Finding one that doesn't trigger breakouts or block pores was really difficult for me.

Masks for the face are an alternative.

Once a week, if I have the time, I'll apply a mask and wash it off between steps one and two. My particular favourites are clay masks and exfoliation masks.
